SEND & Inclusion

Every child belongs

Our inclusive approach

At Little Lambs, inclusion begins with knowing each child well. We welcome children with different strengths, needs and ways of communicating, and we work to ensure that every child feels safe, valued and able to participate alongside their peers.

We listen carefully to families, recognising that parents and carers know their children best. By working together, observing children thoughtfully and responding early to emerging needs, we can put appropriate strategies and reasonable adjustments in place.

Our SEND Manager, Tracey Dakin, leads and coordinates SEND provision across Little Lambs. She supports children, families and practitioners, helps develop individual strategies and works closely with other professionals where additional advice or assessment is needed.

The Lavender Room

The Lavender Room is our dedicated SEND and inclusion hub, designed to provide a calm, flexible and nurturing space for children from babies through to 11 years.

It can be used for sensory regulation, individual or small-group support, focused activities and quiet time when a child needs a lower-stimulation environment. It complements the experiences available within our main rooms and outdoor spaces, helping children access the support they need while remaining part of the wider Little Lambs community.

The space also allows visiting professionals to work with children and families on site and provides a welcoming place for meetings, guidance and parent support.

Working with families and professionals

We work in partnership with families and, where appropriate, with health visitors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, paediatricians, Brighton & Hove Inclusion Support Service and other specialist professionals.

Our team uses communication-supportive strategies informed by previous Early Talk training, alongside each child’s individual plans and professional guidance. We continually develop our knowledge so that support remains thoughtful, current and responsive.

If you would like to discuss your child’s development, an existing diagnosis or the support available at Little Lambs, please speak to your child’s key person or contact our SEND Manager through info@littlelambskindergarten.co.uk.
